Spinal Stenosis Surgery

Before surgery, your doctor will examine you thoroughly. He will ask you about your complaints and will do some diagnostic imaging. In general, this will be a magnetic resonance image (MRI) or sometimes also a computed tomography (CT) scan.

Indications for Surgical Intervention

Few patients with spinal stenosis need surgery – most patients can be treated with conservative therapy such as physiotherapy.

Surgery may only be considered if the symptoms do not improve after at least 3 months with these measures. The best results are achieved when individuals are struggling most with their neurological symptoms in the legs.

If back pain is the prominent symptom, however, the operation often does not lead to the desired success. In recent years, very gentle, minimally invasive procedures have been developed.

The joimax® Approach

With our advanced surgical procedure, the iLESSYS® method, surgeons use modern, technically-sophisticated instruments and devices working through a „keyhole“ approach.

An incision only a few millimeters long is made. The tissue is carefully moved aside (stretched); it is not dissected, so ligaments, muscles and bones remain intact. The risk of infection is also significantly reduced.
